Latest Cyberattack reviews

Severe Cyber attacks were carried out upon systems in 2020. As though it was not enough, there was a 17% increase in data breaches in 2021, according to the Identity Theft Research Center (ITRC). The attacks include cryptocurrency theft, supply chain attacks, ransomware, and data loss. But, the most recent cyber attack reviews include:

 

● CNA financial breach; this was an attack carried out in March 2021 that left employees of the CNA financial block out of their systems and prevented them from gaining any corporate resources. A ransomware attack saw the company's data stolen, gulping 40 million dollars in fees to settle.


● Colonial pipeline cyber attack; this was a ransomware attack upon a pipeline operated by a dark side hacking group that caused gas disruption and brought panic among the US public.


● Cyber attack on Volkswagen and Audi; there was a data breach attack on Volkswagen and Audi company in 2021 which affected beyond 3 million customers and potential buyers that are domicile in the USA; the attack was blamed on a notorious hacking group called the vendor who was also responsible for exposing data in 2019.


● Cyber attack on WHO; as the break of their covid-19 pandemic serials of episodes were carried upon the World Health Organization that eventually resulted in stealing 25 thousand passwords and Email addresses. During their pandemic, the data were exposed online, and vital information of groups and some individuals at the forefront of fighting the pandemic. Some organizations that witnessed these attacks were the US Center for disease control and prevention (CDC), Gate Foundation, and the National Institute of Health (NIH).


● Cyber attack on Facebook; with millions of users on the Facebook social network, the Meta company also experienced a series of attacks that saw the Facebook IDs, Relationship status, names, and date of birth of the users exposed online.


● Log4j Breach; at the last part of 2021, a remote code flaw was seen active, and botnets activated bugs. This is due to a zero-day vulnerability discovered in the Java library of the LOG4J.


● Service breach in the zoom conferencing; the covid-19 pandemic brought a change in the lifestyle of people, and as a result of the physical distancing required, video conferencing became a perfect choice for social interaction due to isolation. But, this platform was not spared by cybercriminals as they seized opportunities to breach networks and sign into private meetings and conversations to disrupt them with offensive videos, screens, and images. Although the zoom video conferencing service upgraded its application to fix some security loopholes.

These are some of the latest Cyber Attacks experienced, and it shows the length to which hackers could go to steal data from either Big intermediate or small organizations; for this reason, organizations must look to modern ways to improve the security of their networks to enhance trust.
