Isaac Irabor Elimimian, who hails from Iruekpen Town in Edo State of Nigeria, earned his M.A. from Texas Christian University, and the Ph.D. on Trustee Fellowship from Howard University, for thesis on Ezra Pound and John Donne respectively.

          Isaac Elimimian’s poems have appeared in national and international journals and magazines, including Kiabara (Nigeria), A Galaxy of Verse (USA), and Orbis (UK). In 1974, Elimimian won the Lichfield Poetry Prize, awarded by Texas Christian University under the auspices of Nobel Prize Laureate, Saul Bellow. In 1992, he was the recipient of the Golden Poet Award, awarded in San Francisco by the World of Poetry (USA). And in 1996, his poem, “Song For My Sister,” was selected and published as one of the Best Poems of 1996 by the National Library of Poetry (USA).
          Elimimian is also the author of several poetic texts, and scholarly articles in some of the world’s leading journals in English, including The CLA Journal, Chelsea, The Literary Criterion, World Literature Written in English, Research in African Literatures, Concerning Poetry, The Literary-Half Yearly, African Literature Today, Classical and Modern Literature: A Quarterly, and Modern Fiction Studies.
He has taught poetry for many years at several colleges and universities both in Nigeria and the United States of America. His specialty areas are Comparative Literature, Rhetoric and Criticism, English Poetry, American Poetry, and African Poetry. Elimimian holds Life Memberships in the African Studies Association (USA), the African Literature Association (USA), and the College Language Association of America. He teaches at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State of Nigeria, where he is currently a Professor and Chair of the Department of English.
